I'm a bit of a trauma geek, and I read this article on neuroception recently. It wasn't anything new to me, per se, but I was struck with the deep truth of this image and what it reflected above. What if MOST of our society is actually stuck in one of the trauma responses MOST OF THE TIME, because we haven't implemented healthy habits that complete the stress cycle on a moment to moment basis? Read more about this in this article here, and reply directly to let me know what you think! IS there a possibility that you are stuck in fight, flight, or freeze as your normal? Has this become a defining element of your personality? What resources do you utilize to complete the stress cycle? Is it singing or humming, listening to music, playing with creativity, meditating, petting animals, sound meditation?

The parasympathetic system is the nervous system that helps rest and restore after a stressful event or time. The more we practice going consciously into this rest and restore space, AND the deeper we go(sound meditation naturally goes deep fast, see this article about that), the deeper these neural pathways go, and the easier it is to go there. This could affect the way you deal with unexpected life events, increase capacity to be more patient and listen better before reacting, as well as transform patterns in our life that aren't serving us. It's the magical truth about neuroplasticity, which is changing constantly and remains flexible throughout ones life. All the more important reason to be vigilant with what kind of emotions or thoughts we feed, what kind of people we surround ourselves with, and how often and what kind of restorative practices we chose to help us release all of it. The more we feed what we practice, the more of that we get.

You are welcome to check out any of our community practices at ABigAUM, all of which use sound and breath to ultimately engage the rest and restore nervous system, and practicing habits that help us live a deeper, fuller, more joyful and interconnected life.
